  • Blurred black and white photo of two men in suits walking past a corrugated metal background. Their indistinct features suggest motion and urgency.
  • Hands with painted nails use a clear hand sanitizer pump bottle on a white surface; a dark bottle stands in the background, evoking cleanliness.
  • Two people are jogging, captured mid-stride from the waist up. The focus is on their motion and athletic attire, evoking energy and vitality.
  • Coins floating in a mysterious, grey space
  • Dark volcanic hills under a cloudy sky, with a winding path cutting through. Sparse vegetation hints at a rugged, desolate landscape.

A hug

The Weight Of Missing Someone

One of the simplest drawings I've ever made remains one of the most emotional. A hug is such an ordinary gesture, yet absence can make it monumental. This sketch became an attempt to capture a feeling that most people recognise immediately.

Skething refugee memories

Drawing What Isn't Being Said

During interviews, people often reveal more through pauses, gestures and expressions than through words alone. These sketches focused on capturing emotional moments rather than documenting appearances, searching for the feeling underneath the conversation.

A monotype print of waves

Ink Holds Memory Differently

For a graphic novel on the refugee crisis, I used monotype printing to explore displacement, memory and belonging. The unpredictability of the medium felt appropriate. Smudges, textures and imperfections carried emotional weight that polished digital illustration could never quite replicate.

A child traveling alone

Meeting My Younger Self Again

I recently revisited Ropa, one of my earliest graphic storytelling projects. It tells the story of my grandfather crossing Germany alone as a nine-year-old boy during the war. Looking back at old work feels a little like time travel. The project becomes a snapshot of who you were, what you cared about and how you saw the world at that moment.
